You are the sage green color of my life
your growth bears no fruit -
just leaves,
reams of them,
stapled theories on the branches of your mind
dreams that show their true colors
whe nthe passion's fully gone
Their veins run dry and harden
and so they slip from you
twirling away,
becoming a whisper on the wind
degraded to a daydream
left for someone else to find
to catch -
when fate will favor them
It does not seem to phase you
as your sage green dancing dies
and you'll become that blacker bark
to creep into my life
face whipping, wrist snatching
so beautiful, so intricate
when surveyed from far away
but caught up in the knots
I can only tear, can disentangle
trying to rip myself to freedom
(I'm wishing you away)
You could be the blooming color of sage green in my life
You could be so fruitful -
you could grow as part of me
you are the tree of life
doomed to have lazy days,
uncovering life a leaf at time
and each chance to live it
snatched away
by white sunsets,
winter days
evanescent bitter winds
which bear the weight of all but mercy
You could be my golden sunset and
the blackened chars of coals
Yet...you are living
(you are sage green)
but you'll always be as soulless
as each snap of bark
each flitting daydream
cracking open life
as slowly as you'll die
